Ray Davis added to the Maxwell Award Watch List

According to a meme I saw on Instagram, one of the Dalai Lama’s rules for living is: “When you realize you’ve made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.”
The Maxwell Football Club must’ve seen that meme, too. Because, today, the Maxwell Football Club recognized a mistake it made earlier this year, and took an immediate step to right that wrong.
The wrong? Not putting Kentucky running back Ray Davis on the 87th Maxwell Award Watch List.

Before the 2023 college football season began, the Maxwell Club, presenters of the Maxwell Award given to the most outstanding player in college football, named nearly 100 of the best college football players in the county, and Davis wasn’t among them. (You can see that whole list here. Devin Leary‘s on it.)
Twelve touchdowns later, the club added Kentucky’s Davis into the mix after seven weeks of football. A worthy addition, Davis leads the Southeastern Conference in rushing, rushing touchdowns, all-purpose yards, and points per game. Nationally, he ranks sixth with 781 rushing yards, boasting an average of seven yards per carry.
Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be named on November 13, two days after Kentucky hosts Alabama in the final game at Kroger Field in 2023.
