The accolades continue to roll in for Ray Davis. Today, Kentucky’s redshirt senior running back was named Midseason All-American by The Sporting News, his second such honor. Last week, Davis was also tabbed a Midseason All-American by the Reese’s Senior Bowl.

Through seven games, Davis leads the SEC in rushing (111.57 yards per game), rushing touchdowns (8), all-purpose yards (139.14 yards per game), and scoring (11.14 points per game). He is sixth nationally in total rushing yardage with 781. He also has five receiving touchdowns, bringing his total to 13, which is only six shy of Benny Snell’s non-quarterback record of 19 set in 2017.

Speaking of Snell, Davis is the first Kentucky player since Benny to score a touchdown in seven straight games. He’s the only player in Kentucky Football history to score a touchdown in the first seven games of a season. His 280 rushing yards in the win over Florida were just 19 short of the school record and third most in a game in program history.

Davis is just about the only thing working for Kentucky on offense right now, and his performance on the field is matched only by his character off it. Cole Cubelic was in Lexington on Saturday to cover Kentucky vs. Missouri and on Sunday, shared an interaction he had with Davis prior to the game. Davis found Cubelic during warmups and thanked him for his support, a moment captured by the SEC Network cameras as part of its all-access footage. Needless to say, Cubelic was impressed by RD1.
