Ray Davis Shares Very Important Reminder to Florida Football Fans
Ray Davis is preparing for the biggest job interview of his life at the NFL Combine. Even though his focus is on the future, he’s not forgotten his roots.
During Friday morning’s Q&A with members of the media, Davis was asked, “If there’s one play you could show an NFL team from your reel, what would it be?”
The former Kentucky running back did not have to think long to share an answer. The only thing is, he couldn’t pick just one play.
“Every play of the Florida game,” he said. “Every single play, to remind the Gators that Kentucky’s won three in a row and next year it’s gonna be four.”
That’s an excellent reminder, Ray, one that Florida fans cannot quickly forget. In case you forgot, Ray Davis ran for 280 yards and three touchdowns against the Gators last fall. Oh, and he caught a touchdown too in the Wildcats’ 33-14 victory over Florida. Once again, that was Kentucky’s third-straight win over the Gators.

Davis Credits Kentucky Teammates
Ray Davis was outstanding in his one season at Kentucky. The former Temple and Vanderbilt running back earned First Team All-SEC honors after rushing for 1,129 yards and scoring 21 total touchdowns, the most from scrimmage in the SEC. As outstanding and dynamic as he was, Davis gave all the credit to his Kentucky teammates.
“Even this past season, I knew I had it in me. I knew I had the ability to go out there and make things happen, be able to run the ball and do the things that I did,” said Davis.
“Truthfully, the reason why I had the season that I had was because of my teammates. Having a quarterback like Devin Leary and an O-line like I had, the star-studded players I had around me. They made my job ten times easier because teams also had to respect those guys. Teams had to respect the Barions, the Danes, the Tayvion Robinsons, the ABs, those guys who constantly continued to work and get better each and every day to provide a different asset to the game where now you had to focus on them as much as you had to focus on me.”
