Kentucky is looking for a pair of additions to its wide receiver room from the transfer portal. They both might be on campus this weekend.

Former Texas A&M pass-catcher Raymond Cottrell shared on social media that he will be in Lexington Dec. 8-10 for an official visit.

Cottrell was a four-star talent in the class of 2023. He was the No. 230 player in the 2023 recruiting class according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four primary recruiting media services.

A 6-foot-3, 210-pound outside receiver from Milton, FL, Cottrell made his collegiate debut in the Aggies’ season-opening win over New Mexico. A few weeks later he caught his first touchdown, a 13-yard reception, against ULM. Cottrell maintained his redshirt status by playing in less than four games in 2023, giving him four years to play at his next stop.

More than two dozen schools have contacted Cottrell since he entered the transfer portal. Kentucky is the first to receive an official visit.

Raymond Cottrell will not be the only talented transfer portal player visiting Kentucky this weekend. A pair of former Indiana Hoosiers are expected to be in town.

Left tackle Carter Smith, an Ohio native and wide receiver Donaven McCulley, a duel-threat quarterback that transitioned to the wide receiver position in Bloomington. The former is an exceptional pass protector that started in all 12 games this fall as a redshirt freshman. McCulley is an enormous X wide receiver (6-foot-5) that led the Hoosiers in receiving yards (644) and touchdowns (6). There’s NFL Draft potential that Liam Coen would love to have in his locker room in 2024.

Kentucky needs to add reinforcements to its wide receivers room. We’ll find out soon if McCulley and Cottrell are the right fit for the Wildcats.
