It’s never over till it’s over. Jason Patterson sent shockwaves across the Big Blue Nation over the summer when he announced a commitment to Cincinnati, finally giving Scott Satterfield a win over Kentucky. Nature has finally healed.

As Cincinnati limped to a 2-7 start, the Kentucky coaches amplified the intensity on the recruiting trail. Patterson was in Lexington for the Alabama game and the trip did enough to convince him to pull the trigger. On Tuesday Patterson shared with On3’s Hayes Fawcett that he is flipping from Cincinnati to Kentucky.

“What stood out was number one, Coach Stoops. He always kept it real with me and did everything in his power to get me and it’s the SEC where the best players go to play at. Also the resume of coach Boulware and the backs he’s coached and put in the league,” said Patterson.

“The two I’m closest with are Coach Coen and Coach Boulware. Their plan is to develop me to the best back I can be in the next 3 years and get me to the NFL.”

The Cats now have two running backs in the 2024 recruiting class, which ranks inside the top 25 nationally. Tovani Mizell missed his senior year with an injury, but the other Florida tailback is back in the weight room after completing the rehabilitation process.

Patterson was the most productive running back in the state of Florida in 2022. Last fall he averaged 13.1 yards per carry to score 35 touchdowns and rush for more than 2,700 yards, the most by an athlete in the sunshine state. Listed at 6-foot, 205-pounds, Patterson is a powerful, explosive one-cut runner. Jay Boulware and Liam Coen put in the work to make this happen and it looks like they’re getting a good one in Lexington.
