Coaches are off the road. The dead period is here. All that’s left is for the fat lady to sing. This Wednesday prospects will put pen to paper and officially join Kentucky’s 2023 recruiting class when the Early Signing Period begins.

The Wildcats’ class currently ranks No. 33 overall with 15 commitments. Kentucky also has four verbal commitments from transfer portal players. Both numbers could grow by Wednesday. Let’s take a closer look.

Players on Commitment Watch

Jamarion Wilcox — Rivals recently upgraded the talented running back, now ranked No. 146 overall and a top 10 RB in the 2023 class. He rushed for 2,059 yards and 29 touchdowns on 229 carries as a senior. This weekend he was supposed to officially visit Auburn. Instead, he was hosting Jay Boulware for an in-home visit while rocking Kentucky blue. This morning I officially submitted a Kentucky pick for Wilcox in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM).

Tavion Gadson — Kentucky has cranked up the pressure on the Florida State commit as the Early Signing Period draws near. Over the weekend he officially visited Kentucky. Following the trip in Lexington predictions for a flip started rolling in. Even though he initially planned on waiting to sign until after visiting Tennessee in February, those plans could change.

Trey Cornist — Another running back target for the Wildcats, this physical rusher from Cincinnati’s Winton Woods High School will reveal his decision on Wednesday. Kentucky is among the seven finalists. Even though things have gone relatively quiet on his end over the last week or so, the Wildcats appear to still be in a good position entering the homestretch. Cornist rushed for more than 1,600 yards and 27 touchdowns in 2022.

Other Potential Additions

Karmello English — There’s been very little intel to leak from the English camp over the last few weeks, but I have a sneaking suspicion Kentucky is going to pounce and pull of a big four-star addition on Early Signing Period. Call it a hunch, a gut-feeling, call it whatever you want. I don’t think anyone will care, so long as Liam Coen gets his guy in the slot.

Asa Newsom — It’s unclear if that talented linebacker every made it to Kentucky’s campus this weekend for an official visit. Prying a player like this from the state of Iowa would be difficult, but never say never.

Transfer Portal Players

Ray Davis — The Vanderbilt running back was in Lexington over the weekend and appeared to enjoy his time at Kentucky. One of only four 1,000-yard rushers in the SEC this year, it’s impossible to block out the Davis-to-UK noise. He could be a solid, physical one-year addition to the Wildcats’ running back room.

Quarterback — This decision is the one everyone has been waiting for. It may arrive soon. After Graham Mertz visited Kentucky and Devin Leary checked out Auburn, KSR’s Adam Luckett submitted a prediction for Leary to become a Wildcat. Grab your popcorn folks. An announcement could happen at any moment.
