Reed Sheppard Continues Hot Start in NBA Summer League
The NBA Summer League serves as the first test for young pros. Reed Sheppard is passing this test like an honor roll student.
On Sunday the former Kentucky Wildcat netted 9-of-15 shots for 22 points in 32 minutes of action. A jack-of-all-trades, he sprinkled in seven assists, six rebounds, one blocked shot, and five steals. The steals are eye-opening, but the assists created more jaw-dropping highlights.
The Rockets secured a 109-91 win over the Wizards. They’ll be back in action tomorrow night at 6:30 pm EST against the Detroit Pistons.
It’s the second straight game that Sheppard has made light work of the NBA Summer League competition. The Kentucky kid had 23 points and five assists in his debut Friday night against the Lakers. His parents were courtside for the action and briefly spoke with a reporter during the ESPN broadcast.

“Well, we didn’t want to miss it. You know, this is a big moment for Reed. A big moment for our family. And to be here for his first Summer League game. His NBA experience. We just wanted to be here and cherish this experience with him and just be here for him,” Stacey Sheppard explained.
Jeff added, “From the time the college season has been over until today. Everybody that’s had his hands on him, they’ve done a great job teaching him through nuances about this game and this level. He’s catching on a little bit. He’s got a long way to go, so we’re very thankful and excited.”
