Reed Sheppard named Dickie V's Diaper Dandy of the Week
Is there an accolade Reed Sheppard hasn’t won this week? It started with SEC Freshman of the Week honors, then he jumped up the draft boards to as high as No. 6 (!!!) as “clearly the best freshman in college basketball thus far.”
Now he’s one of Dickie V’s Stars of the Week.
Dick Vitale released his list of weekly accolades, Sheppard one of four included in his “stars of stars” — a true PTPer.
Reed Sheppard, Diaper Dandy of the Week. He joins Northwestern’s Boo Buie (Player of the Week), Colorado State (Team of the Week) and Greg Gard (Coach of the Week) in Dickie V’s latest update.
Sheppard was also included in On3’s Week 4 Freshman Power Rankings, coming in at No. 3 overall. Rob Dillingham came in at No. 7.

“The buzz around Reed Sheppard has continued to grow throughout the season. There is a strong conversation to be had around Sheppard being one of the most efficient guards in the country to this point,” Jamie Shaw wrote. “Coming off the bench, the 6-foot-3 freshman is averaging 13.9 points while shooting 61.1 (22-36) percent from three and dishing out 3.9 assists to 1.5 turnovers per game. Sheppard has played a calming role for a team that finds themselves at No. 16 in the current A.P. Poll.”
Sheppard averaged 23.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 56.7% from the field across two games this past week.
Awesome, baby!
