Reed Sheppard to wear No. 15 with Houston Rockets
Like father, like son — again. After following in his dad’s footsteps to Kentucky wearing the same No. 15 jersey he made famous as the NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player in 1998, Reed Sheppard will be bringing it with him to the NBA.
Drafted No. 3 overall by the Houston Rockets, the former Wildcat unveiled his new uniform in the pros, sticking with No. 15 in red after wearing it historically well in blue and white.
Sheppard is being introduced as a Rocket today — a celebration in Houston, filled with confetti falling, cheerleaders and the team mascot welcoming the former Wildcat to his new home.
Quite the turnaround from a year ago when Sheppard was preparing for his unofficial debut at Kentucky in Toronto at the 2023 GLOBL Jam last July.

Check out some photos from the day, his first on the job in H-Town:
“A lot of that is from Kentucky. You go there and play for a guy who has put many, many, many guys in the NBA,” Sheppard said at his introductory press conference. “Everything at Kentucky prepares you for the next level.”
Once a four-star recruit seen as a multi-year piece in Lexington, Sheppard is now a franchise cornerstone for the Rockets following an all-time one-and-done season at Kentucky.
Not too shabby for a kid from the 606.
