Remembering Mike Cyrus, beloved Kentucky photographer
The UK media world is mourning one of its own today. Mike Cyrus, a Kentucky fan and sports and wedding photographer, passed away from cancer on Wednesday at the age of 51.
You may not know Mike Cyrus by name, but you’ve likely seen his work. After retiring from TMMK in Georgetown, he pursued his true passion, photography. As co-owner of Christopher Michael Images, Mike’s photos were used by TOPS of Lexington, Bluegrass Sports Nation, Sports View America, and yours truly at Kentucky Sports Radio.
A close friend of our staff photographer Dr. Michael Huang, Mike Cyrus shot several games for us over the years. Anyone who knew him can attest to his kindness, talent, work ethic, and generosity. He never knew a stranger and fought cancer valiantly until the very end. We keep his wife Misty, daughters Rachel, Allison, and Hannah, family, and friends in our thoughts.
