Rhyne Howard breaks Atlanta Dream record for most points in three-game span
Another day, another record-breaking performance from former Kentucky star Rhyne Howard.
Against Ciatlin Clark and the Indiana Fever on Sunday, the 6-foot-2 guard scored 36 points on 13-28 (4-13 3PT) shooting in a 104-100 overtime loss. With those 36 points, Howard passed Angel McCoughtry for the most points in a three-game span in Atlanta Dream history.
Howard has scored 31, 33 and 36 points in her last three outings. That puts her at 100 total points in that three-game stretch. McCoughtry had 95 points in a three-game period in 2011, which was previously the record up until now.
On the season, Howard is now averaging 17.3 points per game, and she’ll have a chance at beating her career high in points per game through these next five games to end the season. Last season, she averaged 17.5 points per outing, but again, these last five regular season games are a good chance for Howard to surpass the average she got just a year ago.

Up next, the Dream take on the Minnesota Lynx at home — a team that Howard has been hot and cold against this season. In her first three run-ins with the Lynx, Howard has posted 23, six and 15 points, which comes out to 14.7 points per game against Minnesota. Considering the hot streak she has been on lately, however, Howard should be able to up that average a bit when the two teams square up on Tuesday.
