Former Kentucky women’s basketball star, Rhyne Howard, has taken the WNBA by storm ever since stepping onto the court during her rookie season. On Friday night she continued her individual excellence by scoring 24 points, grabbing six rebounds, and dishing out two assists against the New York Liberty, though her team, the Atlanta Dream lost in a landslide, 110-80.
This was the third time in 14 days the two teams had played each other and served as the rubber match, having split the previous two matchups. In their last outing, an 86-79 victory on June 13, Howard finished with 12 points, five rebounds, and four assists.
Howard, the number one pick in the 2022 WNBA draft, is doing most of her damage from behind the arc this season. This is no surprise considering she set the WNBA rookie record for made 3s last season.

She currently ranks third in the league in total 3-pointers made and knocks down an average of 2.3 per game at a 35.9% clip on her way to 17.3 points per game. On Friday, she reached her 24 points in part due to going 3-5 from behind the arc, improving upon her season numbers.
The Atlanta Dream sits with a 5-7 record on the year, but they would be in a much worse position if not for the former Kentucky baller leading the squad. You can next catch her and the Dream battle the Washington Mystics on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. on NBATV.
