Rhyne Howard makes Cheryl Miller Award Top 10 Watch List
In the midst of a spectacular senior season, Rhyne Howard’s name has been added to another high-profile watch list.
On Wednesday morning, Howard was tabbed to the Cheryl Miller Award Top 10 Watch List, an annual honor that is given to the nation’s top small forward. The 6-foot-2 native of Cleveland, TN was a top 5 finalist for the award as a junior in 2021-22 and will have a chance to take home the hardware before she heads off to the WNBA. Through 19 games played this season, Howard is averaging 20.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.7 steals, and 1.3 blocks per outing while shooting 43.9 percent from the field.
The All-American and two-time reigning SEC Player of the Year is having arguably the best individual season of her Kentucky career, the team success just hasn’t followed. UK is 9-10 on the year, 2-7 in the SEC, and losers of seven of its last eight contests. It certainly isn’t due to Howard though.

It feels like every week this season has seen Howard pick up some sort of new recognition. In February alone she’s been named to the Midseason Team for Naismith Player of the Year and the Wooden Award Late Season Watch List, which both go out to the nation’s best overall player. Howard was also tabbed to the Naismith Women’s Defensive Player of the Year Watch List a couple of weeks ago. To say she’s Kentucky’s do-it-all woman would be a vast understatement.
