Rhyne Howard named to Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 Watch List

Rhyne Howard is no stranger to player of the year awards, and she made another watch list this week.

On Wednesday night, it was announced that Howard has been tabbed to the John R. Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 Watch List for the third year in a row. The Wildcat senior guard was named the SEC Preseason of the Year and a preseason First-Team All-American heading into 2021-22.

10 games into her final season at UK, Howard is averaging 18.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.1 assists, and 3.3 steals on 45.7 percent overall shooting. Kentucky is 7-3 on the season with a home matchup against No. 15 Georgia Thursday night.

The Wooden Award is handed out annually to the nation’s top college basketball player.

For her career, Howard has recorded 1,844 career points, sitting fourth in UK history in points scored. She needs just four more to tie Victoria Dunlap for third all-time. Howard ranks second in school history in career scoring average at 19.8, seventh in field-goals made with 639, third in career 3s made with 232, and tied for fourth in career 3-point field-goal percentage at 37.7. She is also fourth in UK history in steals per game at 2.4.
