Ryan Lemond will walk over five miles across Lexington during Tuesday's KSR show
Kentucky plays a basketball game on Tuesday night, so Tuesday morning’s Kentucky Sports Radio show will have plenty to say about the game, from the matchup to KSR’s expectations for the Wildcats against Mississippi State. However, Ryan Lemond will not be part of the basketball conversation because he will be busy walking from KSBar and Grille to the new Clark’s Pump-N-Shop location on Lucille Drive off Leestown Road, outside New Circle. The five-plus-mile walk is Ryan’s punishment for insisting there is no new Clark’s Pump-N-Shop location on Lucille Drive during a show earlier this month. When he was proven wrong on air, he agreed to walk from the show at KSBar to Clark’s new spot, which, coincidentally, is located a couple of miles from Ryan’s house.
In an exclusive pre-walk interview, he told KSR he is concerned about the 40 percent chance of showers in the forecast. “It’s gonna rain,” he said. “Of course, it’s gonna rain! I’m afraid I won’t get to Clark’s Pump-And-Shop before the show ends at noon. My shoes will get wet. My boxer shorts will be wet. Gonna be an uncomfortable morning.”
The KSR Preshow will send Ryan off on his hike in the final segment of tomorrow’s show leading into KSR at 10 a.m. Matt Jones and I will broadcast KSR from KSBar while checking in with Ryan via phone periodically to make sure he is alive and on pace to finish the walk. If he crosses the finish line by noon, the first 50 people who greet him at Clark’s will receive a free coffee or soft drink on the house.
Additionally, the Scott County Humane Society will be at Clark’s with student-athletes from UK Volleyball and UK Softball. Clark’s will give anyone who adopts a puppy or kitten a $100 gas card, plus a $100 gas card giveaway to one lucky winner who greets Ryan at the end of his journey.

Ryan’s path from KSBar to Clark’s
As for the path, Ryan tells KSR he intends to take Old Frankfort Pike to Alexandria Drive, noting it’s not the safest route but the shortest. Google Maps says it is 5.4 miles, a one-hour and 59-minute stroll. Lemond said of his path, “I drove it today, and there aren’t many spots to cut corners! There is a donut store though!”
And the last time he walked more than five miles? “When I was a senior at Kentucky Wesleyan,” he confessed. “I broke a bone in my hand during the fall baseball season. My coach was also the cross-country coach, so if you got injured, he made you run on the cross-country team. I had to run in two meets. Both were 10k, which is 6.2 miles. I haven’t come anywhere close to that since 1988. I did walk a lot at Disney World a couple of times.”
Tune in to the KSR Preshow at 9 a.m. and then KSR at 10 a.m. to hear how it goes, or meet Ryan at 100 Lucille Drive, where there is definitely a new Clark’s Pump-And-Shop, as he crosses the finish line, probably in the rain.
