Three-star Saadiq Clements commits to Purdue
Under former Louisville offensive coordinator and WKU head coach Jeff Brohm, Purdue has made recruiting the Bluegrass State an emphasis. On Friday, the Boilermakers logged their second recruiting win in Kentucky this week.
Henderson (Ky.) County defensive lineman Saadiq Clements is headed to the Big Ten.
Saadiq Clements is the No. 796 prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. The Western Kentucky native is the No. 10 player in the state who received heavy recruiting interest from Florida State and Michigan during the process. However, things went quiet on Kentucky’s end as the spring and summer approached.
Clements took an official visit to Purdue last weekend where he was joined by Louisville (Ky.) St. Xavier product Micah Carter. Apparently, things went very well for the Boilermakers as Clements commits to Purdue just one day after Carter announced his decision.

Since Brohm arrived in West Lafayette, the Boilermakers have signed 11 players from Kentucky high schools highlighted by current Arizona Cardinals wideout Rondale Moore. That number will climb to 13 if Carter and Clements put pen to paper in December. Purdue consistently recruits the Bluegrass State and that will not be changing with Brohm roaming the sidelines at Ross-Ade Stadium.
Kentucky still has some key in-state targets remaining in this cycle with Bowling Green (Ky.) South Warren defensive back Cristian Conyer is expected to take an official visit this weekend. However, the Big Ten has mined Kentucky for line of scrimmage with Purdue landing two recruiting wins and Illinois securing a commitment from Lexington (Ky.) Frederick Douglass defensive tackle Jamarrion Harkless after an official visit to Champaign.
