The purple backcourt in Sacramento just got a little bluer.

According to Sacramento Kings General Manager Vlade Divac, the team will sign former Kentucky guard Tyler Ulis to a contract, joining De’Aaron Fox in the backcourt.

Ulis worked out with the Kings last season before ultimately signing with the Chicago Bulls. During three years in the NBA, Ulis has averaged 7.5 points and 4.0 rebounds in 20.9 minutes per game mainly playing alongside Eric Bledsoe and Devin Booker in the Phoenix Suns backcourt. You might remember this game-winning shot he hit against the Boston Celtics from March of 2017…

It was only a matter of time before Ulis found another home in the NBA after appearing in only one game for the Bulls last season. Despite being a notoriously shorter point guard, his first two seasons in Phoenix were littered with impressive performances. While I’m not sure how much time Ulis will earn considering Fox, Cory Joseph, and Yogi Ferrell all possess more experience ahead of him in the rotation, it’s nice to see him finally land himself a job.

Terms of the deal have not been officially disclosed at this time, however, ESPN’s Bobby Marks said it will be a one-year, partially guaranteed deal and will NOT be an Exhibit 10 contract; meaning Ulis will be competing to make the final roster and might not be a player the Kings want to send back and forth from the G League to the NBA.

Welcome back to the Association, Tyler. We’ve missed you.
