Sam Williams-Dixon shares Ohio State mea culpa during Kentucky visit
Sam Williams-Dixon made a surprise official visit to Kentucky to kick off this week. Wildcat fans were not the only ones surprised to see the three-star Ohio State running back commitment in Lexington.
Prior to his Kentucky official visit, the Columbus native did not inform Ohio State of his excursion. That apparently did not sit well with Ryan Day’s coaching staff.
In order to bond that bridge, so to speak, Sam Williams-Dixon told the Ohio State Rivals website that he is still “locked in” with his commitment to the Buckeyes. The interview to clear the air took place before departing from his Kentucky official visit.
“It was a mistake by me to not tell them,” he said. “I just wanted to take the free visit and have a good time with my friends and family. I wasn’t raised In a house with a man in it.
“It was always just my mom and me. I’m just not used to telling another man anything for real, about my life in general. But I take full responsibility for my action and it won’t happen again. It’s a great life lesson.”

Sam Williams-Dixon is scheduled to be at Ohio State this weekend for an official visit. That could be awkward.
Why Kentucky Makes Sense for Sam Williams-Dixon
Even though he is a Columbus native, Vince Marrow has been a constant presence throughout Williams-Dixon’s recruiting process. Kentucky was the first Power Five school to issue a scholarship. He camped in Lexington last year and visited for Junior Day this spring. Even after his commitment to the Buckeyes, Kentucky has been in the mix.
One other thing Kentucky has going for it: the Wildcats don’t have any running backs committed. Ohio State has two others in their 2024 recruiting class. Sam Williams-Dixon is an above-average pass-catcher, leading some recruiting services to rank him as an “athlete.” Kentucky’s coaching staff will make it abundantly clear to that athlete if he goes to Ohio State he will be fighting with two other running backs in his recruiting class for carries. Is it enough to flip the Ohio State commit? We’ll find out soon enough.
