Samford parts ways with Scott Padgett
Another former Cat is looking for a new job. According to ESPN’s Jeff Borzello, Samford has parted ways with Scott Padgett.
Padgett, who played at Kentucky from 1994-99 and was on John Calipari’s staff during the 2009-10 season, has been the head coach at Samford since 2014. This season, the Bulldogs were 10-23, finishing 8th in the Southern Conference. Padgett’s record during his six seasons at Samford was 84-115. Last week, Padgett’s former teammate Allen Edwards was also fired from Wyoming after four seasons (60-76 record).
We’ll always have that time Padgett called out Karl Hess for “stepping” to him when he pleaded for a call during a timeout.
“It’s not a real world out there because a guy like that stepping to me is not realistic,” Padgett said. “If we’re out on the street, he’s running the other way just if he sees me walking by. This is isn’t a threat. I’m 6’9? 280; not a lot of people step at me.”
