Saniah Tyler is aiming to score 15 PPG as a junior
Last season, Saniah Tyler made a big jump after a freshman season in which she lost complete confidence in herself and in her game. With an unmatched work ethic, Tyler built herself back up and proved that she can be a valuable contributor for a big-time SEC program. We’ve already talked about how Tyler could be the difference in a “good” or “great” Kentucky team next season.
In an interview with Slim Sports, the junior guard talked about what her hopes and goals are for next season. Obviously, being one of two returners on the team, Tyler will be looking to take on a leadership role. Whether it be the incoming freshman or the transfers that are new to the SEC, she’s going to be the one to lead the way.
However, she has some big personal goals as well. After scoring 10.2 points per game last season, Tyler is looking to improve on that. The number she set for herself was 15 points per game.
“For me personally, the way I want to see myself improve that’ll help the team go far is being more efficient in my shooting and my points,” Tyler explained. “I’m looking to average like 15 points a game this upcoming season.”

She added, “Just being more in the gym, more in shape, learning the game more. I want to be more like a student of the game. The IQ, knowing where people are supposed to be, breaking down the game more so it could be easier when I’m out on the court. I think that’ll help me grow.”
The backcourt is going to be more than crowded next season considering all the pieces that are coming in. However, she has the tools and work ethic to carve out a role for herself next season.
