Kentucky Transfer Portal Watch: Savion Washington receives offer
Kentucky has some rebuilding to do on the offensive line. Despite there being an offensive coordinator search currently ongoing, the coaching staff in Lexington is still vetting potential prospects.
On Thursday, the Wildcats scored a big transfer recruiting win when Alabama offensive guard Tanner Bowles committed to Kentucky. The former four-star recruit from Glasgow (Ky.) High is expected to compete for a starting position at right guard. However, other positions need to be upgraded.
More specifically, Kentucky needs some help at tackle. Marques Cox (Northern Illinois) has emerged as an option. Savion Washington (Kent State) is another option who has confirmed his interest in Kentucky to KSR. That interest just got a little more real.
Offensive line coach Zach Yenser issued a scholarship offer to the MAC transfer on Thursday afternoon.

The mammoth right tackle (6-8, 342) spent three seasons playing for Sean Lewis at Kent State and became a full-time starter as a redshirt sophomore this past year. Washington played nearly 800 snaps for the Golden Flashes in their version of the Art Briles spread this past season. The Akron (Ohio) St. Vincent-St. Mary product has received some heavy power conference interest since entering the transfer portal.
Kentucky joins BYU, Colorado, NC State, and Oklahoma State as power conference programs that have issued scholarship offers. Washington is scheduled to make the trip to Stillwater this weekend to take an official visit with Mike Gundy’s program at Oklahoma State.
The Wildcats are making moves and are in pursuit of another tackle from the MAC. Savion Washington will have three years of eligibility remaining when he picks his new school. The Kent State transfer told KSR that a visit to Lexington “might be coming up”.
Recruiting never stops.
