The Kentucky high school football season moves right along as Week 8 action takes place tonight and tomorrow under the lights.

A pair of Top 25 matchups highlight this week’s slate. No. 17 DuPont Manual at No. 5 St. Xavier in Louisville and No. 7 Frederick Douglass at No. 19 Madison Central in Richmond will be the games to monitor. But the headliner is the KSR Game of the Week between No. 20 South Oldham and RV Scott County out in Georgetown. For a preview of that one, click here.

This week comes with plenty of byes for a big chunk of KSR’s Top 25 teams too. The likes of No. 2 Paducah Tilghman, No. 8 Owensboro Catholic, No. 10 Bowling Green, No. 12 Lexington Christian Academy, No. 14 Christian Academy-Louisville, No. 18 Covington Catholic, No. 22 Hart County, No. 23 Central, and No. 25 Campbellsville will all be off this week.

As we gear up for Week 8 action, we’re predicting the score for every major game on the docket for Friday. Using the Massey Ratings — a system created in 1999 by statistician Kenneth Massey that was used to help determine the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) until 2013 — we are able to plug every high school team across the state into a tool that will predict the final outcome of any given matchup.

As a quick explanation, the Massey Ratings are computer ratings based on historical trends and current-year stats. With that in mind, it will need a few weeks’ worth of games before the numbers begin to hit their stride. However, you won’t find a more reliable system to use in terms of predicting scores throughout the first couple of weeks of the regular season.

Below, we have included score predictions for all of KSR’s Top 25 teams, along with the additional teams receiving votes from our panel of 10 voters.
