Only a few weeks remain in the 2024 Kentucky high school football regular season. District play is well underway as the postseason quickly approaches.

With that in mind, we’re in for a busy stretch in Week 9. The only team among KSR’s Top 25 on a bye this week is No. 15 Ashland Blazer. Otherwise, the remaining 24 teams (plus the seven schools receiving votes in our latest poll) will all suit up over the next few days. We’ll have a handful of games on Thursday and Saturday, but the majority of the action takes place under the lights on Friday night.

For the first time this season, the KSR Game of the Week will not feature any ranked teams. We’ll be heading out to Bourbon County tomorrow night to see the orange field as the Paris Greyhounds (4-3) host the visiting Raceland Rams (4-3). For a full preview of what’s in store for the GOTW, click here.

As we gear up for Week 9 action, we’re predicting the score for every major game on the docket for Friday. Using the Massey Ratings — a system created in 1999 by statistician Kenneth Massey that was used to help determine the Bowl Championship Series (BCS) until 2013 — we are able to plug every high school team across the state into a tool that will predict the final outcome of any given matchup.

As a quick explanation, the Massey Ratings are computer ratings based on historical trends and current-year stats. With that in mind, it will need a few weeks’ worth of games before the numbers begin to hit their stride. However, you won’t find a more reliable system to use in terms of predicting scores throughout the first couple of weeks of the regular season.

Below, we have included score predictions for all of KSR’s Top 25 teams, along with the additional teams receiving votes from our panel of voters. If your school was not included in the prediction sheet, click the link here to find their team page.
