Scoreboard Rundown: Blowouts galore in round one of the playoffs
The opening round of the Kentucky high school football playoffs wrapped up without any huge surprises. Blowouts took place all over the state as all of KSR’s Top 25 teams won convincingly. There were a total of nine shutouts between the Top 25 and the teams receiving votes. Franklin County was the lone team in the rankings that didn’t play this week. The Flyers’ originally scheduled opponent, Western, elected to forfeit.
That doesn’t mean the first round of the postseason was a totally boring slate of games though. For example, North Laurel advanced to the second round of the Class 5A playoffs by controversially beating Montgomery County on the final play in overtime. Elsewhere, Great Crossing picked up the school’s first-ever postseason victory by taking down Meade County 37-30.
