We don’t typically talk about Metcalfe County in our weekly Scoreboard Rundowns, but we have to include the Hornets in today’s edition. Why? Because senior running back Byron Kirkland-Lundy found the end zone 10 times in Metcalfe County’s 70-44 win over Clinton County on Friday night. He ran the ball 24 times for 490 yards in the historic performance. The proof is on the tape, too.

The 5-foot-8, 165-pound Kirkland-Lundy scored four times in the fourth quarter. He previously set the school record for rushing yards earlier this season when he ran for 347 yards and five touchdowns against Nelson County. There is some debate as to whether or not Kirkland-Lundy broke the state’s all-time record for rushing touchdowns in one game. Records show Matt Anderson of Pike County Central recording nine touchdowns in 2020 but a Herald-Leader article states that Don Gullett ran for 11 scores in 1968.

Regardless of whether or not he technically holds the all-time record, it’s a pretty damn impressive feat for Kirkland-Lundy.

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming. There were a couple of notable upsets that took place on Friday with No. 25 Central beating No. 14 Christian Academy-Louisville by 20 points and No. 24 South Warren upending No. 11 Bowling Green in a one-score game. It should create plenty of movement in Monday’s rankings update. Meanwhile, Raceland beat Paris 28-14 in the KSR Game of the Week.

Below you can find all of the final scores from teams among KSR’s Top 25 rankings, along with the teams outside of the rankings that received votes from our panel of 10 voters. We have compared the final result to the pregame predictions from On3’s Massey Ratings, which once again did a great job of predicting the winners and getting close to the final score.
