Scott Satterfield is leaving Louisville for Cincinnati
The Keg of Nails rivalry officially returned on Monday morning. After four seasons at Louisville, head coach Scott Satterfield decided to make a horizontal move.
Following the departure of Luke Fickell for Wisconsin, Cincinnati director of athletics John Cunningham was able to keep his top candidate in the shadows and the news finally broke on early Monday morning.
Since the first report by Keith Jenkins of the Cincinnati Enquirer, the news has been confirmed by multiple outlets and Cincinnati will introduce Satterfield as their new head football coach later today. The App State alum did not inform his staff of the news until this morning as the deal was reportedly agreed to on late Sunday night. All of this hit social media before the players on the roster found out and there are not many happy campers over at Louisville’s football facility.
Now things will move quickly for Satterfield as he’s off to Cincinnati. after finishing his Louisville career at 25-24 (15-18) with three double-digit losses to archrival Kentucky. But the play-calling head coach will get to stay in the Power Five as Cincinnati will be joining the Big 12 Conference in 2023. He’ll just be working for one of Louisville’s biggest rivals.

Things will get interesting on Dec. 17.
On the first Saturday of bowl season, the Fenway Bowl will get things kicked off in the morning. Who will be playing that day? Cincinnati and Louisville. The drama really does create itself in this sport as both the Bearcats and Cardinals will have interim head coaches for a college football game played in an MLB stadium during a cold December day in New England. Meanwhile, most of Louisville’s staff coaching in that game will be coaching the players on the other sideline immediately after the game.
What a strange turn of events as the Satterfield era ended with a stunner on Dec. 5. Louisville now turns to Jeff Brohm watch. Will the Louisville (Ky.) Trinity product and Purdue head coach finally return home after turning down the Louisville job after the 2018 season?
