Scott Satterfield changes mind again, reportedly staying at Louisville

If there’s one thing Louisville head coach Scott Satterfield is good at, it’s being indecisive and ruffling feathers.

After flirting with the South Carolina job in recent weeks, announcing his lack of interest in leaving Louisville, and speaking with the Gamecocks yet again, Satterfield is reportedly back to the “staying at UofL” part of this charade.

While he confirmed that he spoke to South Carolina on Friday, Satterfield says he is “committed” to the Louisville football program and has no intentions to leave.

He only spoke with the Gamecocks because he has family ties to South Carolina with his parents living just two hours away from campus.
“I think, again, my intentions were never to leave or go anywhere else, but I thought I owed an obligation just to listen because of where it’s at. That’s it,” Satterfield said in an exclusive interview with Cameron Teague Robinson of the Courier-Journal. “Nothing else to read into that. I had no intention of entertaining it, I just wanted to listen to see what they had to say. That’s the bottom line. I don’t want it to offend anyone. We are committed to this program.”

This flip-flop comes less than two weeks after Satterfield was first mentioned as a candidate for the vacancy at South Carolina, with the Louisville head coach tweeting on Nov. 24 that he wasn’t going anywhere.

“While I am flattered my name was associated with another job I have not pursued or sought any offers. I am the head coach at the University of Louisville. We are building a strong foundation and culture. I love our players and the dedication they have shown to me and my staff. It’s important that we continue the development of this program. We have an outstanding recruiting class coming in December and I’m excited for the future of our football team. L’s Up!!”

Just ten days after Satterfield’s tweet, the Hillsborough, N.C. native met with South Carolina athletic director Ray Tanner on Friday night to interview for the school’s head coaching position talk about the weather and all of the happenings of the world.
