Scotty Pippen Jr. declares for the NBA Draft
The SEC is losing one of its top scorers to the National Basketball Association.
Saturday morning Vanderbilt’s Scotty Pippen Jr. announced he is declaring for the 2021 NBA Draft. The Commodores’ star guard will retain his college eligibility while going through the draft evaluation process.

Pippen Jr. spent most of the 2020-21 season ranked either first or second in the SEC in scoring. He finished just behind LSU’s Cam Thomas after averaging 20.8 points per game. He also ranked second in the SEC in assists by dishing out 4.9 per contest.

A few Kentucky fans thought Pippen might one day wear blue and white. After Pippen posted 18 points, 8 assists and 8 rebounds at Rupp Arena, he described Kentucky as his “dream school.” Pippen did not get vengeance at Memorial Gymnasium as Jerry Stackhouse predicted, but a few still held out hope that maybe one day Pippen might pursue that dream by hopping into the transfer portal.
The NBA dream is much more appealing than a Big Blue one for Pippen. Even though he could potentially return to the college ranks, we’ve probably seen the last of Scotty’s son.
