Opponent: Columbia University Date: 12/10/14

General

Play at a slow, methodical pace. Will try to limit possessions. Good defensively.
Good rebounding team; big, athletic guards who can really rebound the ball.
#12 Lo is a very talented offensive player with experience playing internationally.
5-2 on the season with their 2 losses coming by a combined 3 points.

Lo played for the German National Team and leads the Lions in scoring.[/caption] Lo, a native of Germany and a member of the 2014 German National Team, leads the Lions in scoring with 16.1 points per game. A 2^nd Team All-Ivy League selection a year ago, Lo is a very good all-around offensive player. He is a good athlete with decent size, shoots the 3-pointer well, and can get to the basket off the dribble. Given his experience over the summer, I expect that he will be comfortable playing against competition the level of Kentucky. #2 G Isaac Cohen: 6’4’’ 220 JR. He is a big, strong guard who is an outstanding rebounder. He is grabbing nearly 3 offensive rebounds a game and averages an impressive 7.4 rebounds per contest. Offensively, Cohen is primarily looking to make plays for others; he averages over 5 assists per game. #0 G Kyle Castlin: 6’4’’ 180 FR. Castlin is an athletic, very talented freshman who has proven he is ready to score at the college level. He is averaging 8.3 points per game. He does a great job of getting to the free throw line and is an 88% shooter from there. #32 F Chris McComber: 6’8’’ 235 SO. He is a stretch-4 big man who will exclusively look to score from behind the 3-point arc. 33 of his 36 shots have been 3-pointers this season. McComber does a good job of helping the Lions space the floor, but is definitely just a catch-and-shooter player. #23 C Cory Osetkowski: 6’11’’ 270 SR. Osetkowski has been a solid 4-year contributor for Columbia. He is a big, strong body down low with the ability to step outside and shoot the 3 as well. He is just 2/17 from beyond the arc this season, but is a 39% 3-point shooter for his career. The senior is averaging 8.9 points and a team-leading 8.1 rebounds per game. 4-man Chris McComber is a great 3-point shooter & looks like a future CEO.[/caption] Frankoski has had a very good 4-year career for the lions. He is a 3-points shooting specialist who has yet to really get going from beyond the arc this season. Averaging 6.6 points per game. #1 F Jeff Coby: 6’8’’ 220 SO. Coby is an athletic, versatile forward who has a nice face-up game. He will knock down an open 3, but is best when working at around 15-feet and using his size and athleticism to score around you. He is a good offensive rebounder and averages 4.1 rebounds to go with his 6 points per game. Keys to the Game

Control the pace of the game. Columbia plays a very methodical style of basketball, and will probably try and play even slower this evening to limit our possessions. We need to come out and dictate the style of play from the opening tip and force them to speed up to our pace.
Hit some perimeter shots. This probably isn’t so much a key as it is something I, and the rest of Big Blue Nation, would like to see. After a couple of poor shooting performances and close calls with the 3-point record it would be great for the ‘Cats to come out hot and knock in some 3’s early.
Continue to dominate the paint. Teams have found in nearly impossible to get many good looks at the basket against our defense this season that should continue to be the case this evening. We should be able to block shots, dominate the offensive glass, and score in the paint against the Lions all night long.
