It took some sweat, but Big Blue Nation was rewarded with a Wildcat win. Kentucky led by as many as 16 points, a deficit that shrunk to five late in the second half, but Mark Pope’s squad was able to grind out a 91-83 victory at Missouri to wrap up the regular season.

It was a slow start for the Cats on offense. It took 11 minutes to make a two-point field goal. Fortunately, they hit four three balls as a part of an 11-0 run that helped Kentucky take a lead it would not relinquish.

Koby Brea got hot early. He knocked down his first three three-pointers before finishing with 17 points. Collin Chandler had a surprisingly solid performance off the bench. He drilled a big three-pointer right before halftime. The freshman had an impressive second half sequence with back-to-back buckets, and I’m still not sure how this three-pointer fell.

All three freshmen drained a three-pointer at No. 15 Missouri, handing the Tigers just their second home loss of the season. It’s Kentucky’s eighth victory over a Top-15 team this season, extending a program record.

Lamont Butler finished in the paint like he had not since before his shoulder injury. The shot selection wasn’t always at its best, but Otega Oweh still put 22 points on the board. Andrew Carr was exceptional, tallying a 16-point, 12-rebound double-double. None were bigger than the following two. Missouri had cut it to six with less than four minutes to play. Kentucky was desperate for a bucket. Carr delivered a tip-slam to kill the Missouri momentum.

What a win for the Wildcats. Enjoy every last bit of it one more time.
