SEC Media Days Diary: Chapter 3
Good morning from the longest event in the history of events, SEC Media Days in Nashville. The KSR team is back on the scene for a fourth day of football talk in the Grand Hyatt’s ballroom after a 13-hour shift on Wednesday. We are running on fumes, but Lane Kiffin, Shane Beamer, and Josh Heupel are excited to see us. We didn’t want to disappoint them by going home early.
Speaking of going home early, we didn’t do that yet again last night.
The Recession Special at Robert’s Western World is still the best deal in town
Nick Roush has been an SEC Media Days All-Star this week, so last night, he was treated to his first Recession Special at Robert’s Western World on Broadway. The narrow bar with a Honky Tonk Grill served us its famous fried bologna sandwich with chips, a PBR, and a Moon Pie–all for six American dollars. There are places on Broadway where you can’t get an ice cube for six dollars.
Where is everybody?
Day 4 is a much smaller crowd here in the Grand Hyatt ballroom as Lane Kiffin dismisses a question about Artificial Intelligence. It’s clear most people went home, so more Dr. Pepper for us.
I still can’t believe Roush asked Mark Stoops to come home
It was Roush’s first career 1-on-1 interview with Mark Stoops and he wrapped it up with an outrageous question. I was so proud I almost cried.
Aaron Murray also has a great video out there
Tuesday night, former UGA quarterback Aaron Murray was on stage at Tootsie’s with a singer wearing an Aaron Murray jersey. Presumably, the singer is an Aaron Murray fan. Nope. Watch him ask Aaron Murray, “What’s your name boss?”

Kentucky Football had a great day in Nashville
We have a ton of coverage of Kentucky Football’s turn at SEC Media Days, so check that out here at KentuckySportsRadio.com and over on YouTube. I’ll just add that all three of the players — Eli Cox, JJ Weaver, and Octavious Oxendine — did an outstanding job representing their locker room under the bright lights at Media Day. Mark Stoops, too.
I’ll also add that Weaver must be so tired of people asking for a picture of his hands. The six-finger story went viral again yesterday and it was one photo request after another. He’s a great sport about it.
Would they even notice?
It would fit in the van, I’m just saying.
