Quavo, Lenny Kravitz voice SEC on ABC marketing campaign anthem

The SEC on CBS is a thing of the past as the Southeastern Conference’s new deal to air games exclusively on ABC and the ESPN family of networks begins this fall. To usher in the new era, ESPN called on some familiar names.

Today, ESPN launched the “How It’s Done” marketing campaign for the SEC on ABC featuring a rendition of “Fly Away” by Quavo and Lenny Kravitz. Kentucky’s dance team and Mark Stoops punching the ceiling at Missouri made the 30-second clip. Despite some confusion, it is NOT the SEC on ABC theme music, which will debut on August 31. Kentucky will play on ABC at least twice this fall, vs. South Carolina (9/7, 3:30 PM) and Georgia (9/14, 7:30 PM).

Over on the SEC Network, things get a little more country, with Luke Combs’ cover of the Tom Petty classic “Runnin’ Down a Dream” from the tribute album, Petty Country: A Country Music Celebration of Tom Petty. Mark Stoops made the one-minute clip, first talking to his team in the locker room and then leading them out of the tunnel at Kroger Field.

Personally, I would have preferred Petty’s original to Combs’ cover, but to each their own. And while we’re talking Petty and the SEC, nothing will top “Won’t Back Down” at The Swamp.
