Seth McGowan has been one of the few bright spots for Kentucky this season. He suffered a leg injury in today’s 35-14 loss at No. 12 Georgia; thankfully, it does not appear to be major. After the game, Mark Stoops said that McGowan reaggravated an old injury and will use the bye week to recover.

“No, he had an injury, the same injury that he had before,” Stoops said. “He just kind of re-aggravated it. We have the bye week coming up, so hopefully, he’ll get healthy.”

McGowan suffered the injury in the third quarter when an offensive lineman fell on his leg. He was ruled questionable and did not return, finishing with 11 carries for 44 yards. The injury occurred one drive after McGowan fumbled the ball on 1st down on the Kentucky 41-yard line. Initially, it appeared he recovered it, but after a review, the call was overturned. Kentucky finished with only 45 net rushing yards.

Safety Jordan Lovett suffered a shoulder injury when he was tackled after intercepting Gunner Stockton in the first half, but returned to the game. He finished with five tackles and the aforementioned interception, which he returned for 20 yards. It was his first interception of the season and eighth of his career.

“He played through some pain today, so we’ll see where he’s at,” Stoops said of Lovett. “But he played hard and gave it everything he had and was certainly banged up and not feeling great.”

Quarterback Cutter Boley was spotted having his neck worked on during a timeout in the second half and was very shaken up after a hard tackle on the following drive, but also toughed it out. He finished 25-41 for 225 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, the most passing yards and completions by a Kentucky freshman quarterback in an SEC road game since Jalen Whitlow at Tennessee in 2012, and the most touchdown passes by a Kentucky freshman quarterback in an SEC road game since Morgan Newton at Georgia in 2009.

Several other Wildcats will also use the bye week to heal up, including defensive back DJ Waller, who did not play after being listed as questionable. Offensive tackle Alex Wollschlaeger was also listed as questionable but started and played the whole game.
