It’s official: Shaedon Sharpe is a Kentucky Wildcat. The top-ranked recruit in the 2022 class signed his national letter of intent this afternoon, confirming his pledge to be a Wildcat. Yesterday, Sharpe announced he will enroll at Kentucky in January and redshirt the spring semester to prepare for the 2022-23 season.

“Shaedon Sharpe has the ability to be one of those guys who can make a special impact,” John Calipari wrote on social media. “He is an elite scorer with a ton of upside. A 6-5 athlete with a lot of bounce. He has put in a lot of work over the last year to take his game to the next level. Welcome to La Familia!”

Assistant coach Jai Lucas celebrated Sharpe’s signing with this picture of the two with the caption, “See you soon!”:

Prior to the news he will enroll this season, Sharpe was the consensus No. 1 recruit in the 2022 class. Last night, 247 Sports shifted him to the 2021 class, ranking him third behind Gonzaga’s Chet Holmgren and Duke’s Paolo Banchero. According to Jonathan Givony, Sharpe is not eligible for the 2022 NBA Draft, quelling fears he may only stay in Lexington for the spring before leaving for the pros.

Sharpe is the third Wildcat to put ink to paper today, joining five-star wing Chris Livingston and guard Skyy Clark. Five-star combo guard Cason Wallace is also expected to sign his letter of intent this afternoon. Kentucky currently has the No. 1 recruiting class in On3’s 2022 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings.
