Recruiting scoop never sleeps. KSR basketball beat writer Jack Pilgrim broke some huge news on Monday night. Five-star Shaedon Sharpe is currently in Lexington visiting John Calipari’s Kentucky program.

The five-star guard out of Kansas is currently the top-ranked player in the class of 2022 according to On3 Recruits. The 6-foot-4 wing player named a top-five earlier this month with Kentucky being joined by Arizona, Kansas, Oklahoma State, and the G League.

The blue-chipper was scheduled to take an official visit to Arizona last weekend and is suppose to visit Mike Boynton’s Oklahoma State program this weekend. Before that happens, the top-notch prospect is making a quick pitstop in Lexington.

Shaedon Sharpe has entered his final season at Glendale (Ariz.) Dream City Christian. The rising senior is looking to improve on a junior campaign where he posted big numbers. This past summer on the Nike EYBL circuit, Sharpe averaged 22.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 2.7 over 12 games while playing 28 minutes per outing.

“I’m 100 percent open to all options right now,” Sharpe told ESPN earlier this summer. “I want to see what all of them have to offer. I need to learn more about the G League in terms of what their offer is and which other players will be on the team to decide whether that’s something I want to do. People have been penciling me in with Kentucky, and I’m honestly not sure where that’s coming from.

That may be true, but getting Sharpe on campus is a big step in the right direction for Calipari and Kentucky basketball. Kentucky has struggled to land top-10 recruits in recent years and there is no denying that Sharpe is one of the best in the 2022 class.

Can Kentucky get this recruiting class off to a hot start? That just might happen sooner rather than later after getting Sharpe on campus.
