You already knew Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was the NBA scoring champion and likely winner of league MVP in 2024-25, leading the No. 1 seed Oklahoma City Thunder as they prepare to take on the No. 8 seed Memphis Grizzlies in the first round of the NBA Playoffs starting Sunday.

You also knew he was about to be filthy rich, set to sign a four-year, $293 million supermax extension this offseason. He’s also the face of Converse with his own signature sneaker, the SHAI001. The dude is even filming music videos with Drake for the most popular songs in the world. None of that is surprising for the best bucket-getter on the planet in a year that has been very, very good for the former Kentucky star.

But did you know he’s also a dinosaur? And not just any dinosaur, but The Gilgeousaurus?

Yes, I’m being serious. No, I don’t understand it — but we’re learning together on the fly, okay?

Promoting Jurassic World Rebirth, the fourth installment of the Jurassic World series and seventh overall under the Jurassic Park umbrella, Gilgeous-Alexander is a featured character in the latest teaser trailer for the movie set for worldwide release on July 2.

The former Wildcat is located on the dino-map with a height of 1.9 meters, wingspan of 2.1 meters, weight of 888 kilograms and aura of 100.0 percent. The actors stand back in amazement as The Gilgeousaurus stomps forward over trees and dribbles through Brachiosauruses.

“You don’t see that every day,” one says.

“Or ever,” another responds.

Then comes SGA’s acting debut, throwing his first line out there: “Run.”

Are you lost? It’s okay, I don’t blame you. Just watch the trailer for yourself — maybe that’s the only explanation you need.

In his human form, Gilgeous-Alexander finished the regular season averaging 32.7 points per contest in 76 games to lead the NBA in scoring. He combined for 75 20-point games, 49 30-point games, 13 40-point games and four 50-point games with a streak of 72 straight games scoring at least 20 points to top none other than Michael Jordan. His MVP crown will arrive in the coming days to match that title, then potentially a world championship in June.

None of it compares to his ability to transform into The Gilgeousaurus, though.
