Shane Beamer wore sunglasses and danced after beating Kentucky
At SEC Media Days in July, Mark Stoops took a shot at Shane Beamer, joking with Marty & McGee that program-building takes a lot more than putting on some “stupid sunglasses” and dancing around, which Beamer did in a video prior to his appearance in Atlanta. Stoops later claimed those comments weren’t directed at Beamer, but clearly, he struck a nerve. And, as the minutes ticked down on Kentucky’s brutal 24-14 loss to South Carolina, you knew what was coming.
Beamer’s daughter wore sunglasses during his postgame press conference, but he waited until he got to the locker room to put his on, aiming a shot right back at Stoops before starting to dance.
“Make sure we’re classy in our postgame with the media, but in SEC Media Days, he talked about stupid sunglasses and dancing,” Beamer told his players.
Hard to watch, but you know what? Beat South Carolina and he can’t do that. I hope Kentucky heard the celebrations through the walls.

“One hell of a win”
I think all of Big Blue Nation had turned the TV off at this point, but Beamer opened up to Cole Cubelic about how much the win over Kentucky meant to him and his team.
“I would describe it as one hell of a win,” Beamer said. “I didn’t make a big deal out of this this week, but it’s not lost on me that two years ago when South Carolina came up here, they were at the bottom. Literally, during the game here in Lexington is when it was announced that I was going to be the head coach at South Carolina. Those guys went into that locker room after the game and were probably like, ‘Who in the hell is Shane Beamer?’ For us to come two years later to come right back up here and arguably have the biggest win here in a long, long time is pretty special.”
He couldn’t hide his emotions coming through the tunnel.
