Short and Insufficient Profile: Matt Ramsey

by:Evan Hilbert08/13/08
OK, so, during the dragging, sweaty, uncomfortable months of summer, we flippantly mentioned that we would be profiling every player on the team. It will only be fun and worthwhile, we decided, if we were both informative AND funny. Well, it would be really fun if we were drunk the entire time, but that's neither here nor there. Thus, for these ten weeks leading up to the UL game, we will have at least one profile a day. We hope you enjoy these as much as we enjoyed the idea of doing them, but not the actual task. Oh, and we see the egregious "that's what she said" in the headline. We'd also like to use this italicized space to apologize to the families of the players whose last names end in 'A' or 'B' because these early ones might suck a little. Boring, Obligatory Vitals Height--6'1'' Weight--205 40--N/A Year--Sophomore Position--Fullback Hometown--Artemus, KY (Knox Central) Unfair comparison to NFL-er: Mike Alstott. Obvi. Oh, or Derrick Ramsey. Obvi. Or, wait, did Mike Kamphake ever make it to the league? Most interesting fact from his media guide bio: He was coached by Wayne Mills and Ralph Smith. Both of those names sound made up. Something we made up about him: One time, he made a free throw to seal an IM basketball game, and a friend called him "Matty Ice." He kicked that guy in the balls, because that's the lamest nickname ever. Also, Kige Ramsey is his father. Items of legitimate interest: Rushed for 900 yards in each of his final three seasons in high school. A walk-on with a strong work ethic, Ramsey as yet to see the field as a Cat. Outlook for 2008, based on light research by our minions: Listed fourth on the depth chart at fullback. Quick word of the wise: Do not, I repeat, DO NOT do a google image search of Matt Ramsey if your safe search is turned off. (Link is OK, pictures are not...if you like your job. They would create quite the office buzz, though. At least I assume they would create an office buzz, but I've never really had a job.)
