Make it 14 former Kentucky Wildcats in the NBA Summer League. Skal Labissiere was a late addition to the Orlando Magic’s roster for the summer league in Las Vegas. He had quite a debut, putting up 14 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 turnover, and 1 assist in just 17 minutes of play. He shot 5-8 from the floor and a perfect 4-4 from the free-throw line in Orlando’s 84-81 loss to the Sacramento Kings, his original NBA team.

Two of those points came in highlight fashion. Towards the end of the third quarter, Skal threw down this putback hammer dunk, proof of that freakish length and athleticism we saw in flashes during his time at Kentucky.

It’s hard to believe it’s been ten years since Skal came to Kentucky. During the 2015-16 season, the Haitian native averaged 6.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game while shooting 51.6% from the floor. Once projected to be a top NBA Draft pick, Skal was selected No. 28 overall in the 2016 NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns and traded to the Sacramento Kings. After various stints with the Portland Trail Blazers and in the G-League and overseas, Skal signed with the Kings again last season. Now, he’ll showcase his skills in Vegas with hopes of earning a spot with the Magic or another squad; last night was a good start.

Skal and the Magic are back in action Sunday at 6 p.m. ET vs. the Toronto Raptors. Here’s the complete schedule of Cats in action tonight and last night’s stats.
