Softballers end season with loss to Arizona State

uk-softball (Photos by Regina Lexi Rickert) In what felt like an all-too-quick ending, the Hittin' Kittens' season has come to an abrupt halt. The Super Regional continued today, as the Wildcats (er, kittens?) tried to avenge last night's loss to the Sun Devils. That, however, did not happen. Coach Rachel Lawson could not escape Tempe, AZ with a victory. After dropping Game 1 last night, the UK softball team fell 5-2 in Game 2 of the Super Regional today, thus ending their season. And what a season it was - the team saw a lot of success, including a Super Regional berth and a record-setting number of wins. Today's game was a nail biter for most of the innings, with UK answering each run by the Sun Devils. A few costly errors let Arizona State take a one-run lead heading into the final inning, at which point the Sun Devils plunged the dagger in UK's hopes. Arizona State hit a two run homer in the top of the 7th to go ahead 5-2, which ended up being the final score. The Wildcats could not find an answer within their final three outs. Let's give a big e-round of applause for these girls. They had a great season, and there's reason to believe that next year will be just as good. Congrats on a great run, ladies. Go Cats!
