Kentucky assistant coach Mikhail McLean joins the Sources Say Podcast

Preseason practice has begun for the Kentucky Wildcats, and Sources Say wants to know all about it. What better way to find out than bringing on a coach to share the scoop himself, second-year assistant Mikhail McLean joining the show this week to discuss what he’s seen from the 2025-26 squad from the summer to the start of fall with Big Blue Madness right around the corner.

It’s much more than that, though, with McLean sharing stories about life as a high-major hooper and Bahamian National Team coach to go with his growing role on Mark Pope‘s staff — he actually did the interview while on the road recruiting for the Cats. When is UK going to land its first top-five prospect in this new era? He answers that very question on Sources Say.

Hear about the (long) interview process with Pope and Kentucky, leading to his biggest step yet as a coach ahead of what hopes to be his next one as a head coach in the coming years. Also, is Jaland Lowe a star? He’s known the Texan since he was a toddler, so McLean knows better than anyone.

It’s a must-see interview — plus talk about Bruce Pearl’s retirement, Reed Sheppard’s promotion, tip-off times for CBS Sports/Champions Classic and much, much more. Tune in below:
