South Carolina calling for a Blackout for the Kentucky game (of course)
Death, taxes, and SEC teams pulling out all the stops when Kentucky comes to town. The latest is South Carolina, which is calling for its fans to wear black for tomorrow night’s game vs. the No. 6 Cats.
The Gamecocks started promoting “Blackout Tuesday” after their win at Arkansas on Saturday, even sharing a video from the Razorbacks’ visitors locker room of Meechie Johnson, Ta’Lon Cooper, and Zachary Davis encouraging fans to sell out Colonial Life Arena. Junior guard Myles Stute, who missed the Arkansas game with a shoulder injury, chimed in on social media too. Stute, a Vanderbilt transfer who’s been South Carolina’s top three-point shooter this season, is expected to miss at least one more week.
The team even passed out fliers promoting the game around campus today. Freshman guard Collin Murray-Boyles really thought he was cute with that “Wildcats on three” line, didn’t he?
Kentucky is 2-0 in color-out games this season, ruining Louisville’s Red Out in December and Florida’s Orange Out earlier this month. If you’d like to help ruin Blackout Tuesday, limited tickets remain on Ticketmaster starting at $30.

South Carolina coming off 13-point win at Arkansas
Raise your hand if you predicted South Carolina would have 15 wins by now. The Gamecocks have already topped their win total from last season (11); I’m sure you remember that one of those wins came over Kentucky in Rupp Arena.
That said, South Carolina feels a little bit like a paper tiger when you consider the 27-point loss at Alabama and last Tuesday’s five-point loss to Georgia at home. On Saturday, the Gamecocks got back on track with a 13-point win at Arkansas. Senior forward BJ Mack led the way with 18 points, including three three-pointers, and 9 assists. Meechie Johnson is the only other Gamecock averaging in double figures scoring.
Tomorrow will be a rowdy one at Colonial Life Arena. Time for the Cats to go spoil the party.
