The transfer portal moves quickly and Southern California defensive end Sam Greene isn’t wasting any time getting the ball rolling. The redshirt freshman transfer prospect will take a visit to Kentucky on Thursday, he tells KSR.

Greene was considered a Top 500 recruit out of Baltimore (MD) St. Frances Academy from the 2023 high school class. The On3 Industry Ranking had him slotted at No. 468 overall in the country before beginning his college career at Southern California. He is being primarily recruited to UK by defensive coordinator Brad White.

After enrolling early with the Trojans, Greene appeared in three games as a true freshman in 2023 while recording one tackle. He became a regular rotational player in 2024, appearing in all 12 regular-season games for USC while producing 15 tackles, three tackles for loss, and one sack. Greene’s role grew as the season went along. 11 of his tackles came during the final five games of the Trojans’ season.

Since officially entering his name into the transfer portal on Monday, Greene has announced offers from Kentucky, Georgia Tech, and Minnesota. Aside from UK, the only other visit he has on the docket is a trip to Georgia Tech next Thursday (Dec. 19). He has three years of college eligibility remaining. He says there is currently no timetable for a decision.
