Steve Spurrier's Grandson Leads South Warren Into The Playoffs
The state of Kentucky cannot get rid of the Spurrier family. Gavin, the grandson of Hall of Famer Steve Spurrier and son of WKU Assistant Steve Spurrier Jr., helped South Warren (Bowling Green) to an 8-2 record in his first year as a starter.
Bowling Green is known for having several top-tier teams in the state on a regular basis. South Warren has turned into a perennial contender because of a well-coached defense that produced the likes of Kentucky’s Adrian Middleton. But the offense at SWHS has seen a boost in production this year. In ten games for the Spartans, the junior QB threw for 1,792 yards and 18 touchdowns while running for four touchdowns.
In his first season at SWHS, Spurrier already has the most single-season passing yards in the school’s short history and is second in single-season touchdowns.
It stills remains to be seen if Gavin will receive much attention on the recruiting front, but he has helped South Warren’s offense progress as only a junior. I’m guessing he has some guys in his family that will help him progress over the next year.
