In news that’s not really news, on Tuesday Mark Stoops reassured Kentucky Football fans that their starting quarterback is recovering well from his injuries and his playing status is of no major concern. Will Levis did not practice when the team got together Tuesday for the first practice of the week, but only because he needs the recovery time during the week with no game. If he were needed, he would be ready.

“It’s a time where he definitely needs a little bit of rest,” Stoops replied when asked about the latest on Levis. “He wasn’t out there with us today. He’ll be day-to-day. If we had to play this week, knowing him, I think he’d be ready to go. So that’s a good sign. We also want to give him an opportunity to heal up.”

Levis was in a shoulder sling and a walking boot the day after he threw for 230 yards and a touchdown in the win over Mississippi State.

Rodriguez “still in the ice bath”

Another superstar who needs the additional rest this week, Chris Rodriguez is still recovering from the beating he took in his 196-yard, two-touchdown performance against Mississippi State. Rodriguez carried the ball 30 times against the Bulldogs, and he too was held back from Tuesday’s practice for recovery.

“He deserved a day,” Stoops said. “Yes he did. He’s probably still in the ice bath right now.”

Additionally, Stoops expects Tayvion Robinson and Jeremy Flax to be back in time for the trip to Knoxville.
