The Summer Olympics begin in Paris in just over a month. Several Kentucky Wildcats have already made Team USA in men’s basketball (Devin Booker, Anthony Davis, and Bam Adebayo), 3×3 women’s basketball (Rhyne Howard), and volleyball (Avery Skinner). Several more could join them soon as the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Track and Field take place June 21-30 in Eugene, Oregon.

Nineteen former and current Kentucky track and field athletes (13 alumni and five current) qualified for the 10-day event, in addition to volunteer coach Ronnie Baker. The top three finishers in each event will earn a spot on Team USA for the Olympics. Live results for the U.S. Olympic Trials can be found here, and the event will be broadcast on NBC’s family of networks, including Peacock.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone, expected to be one of the faces of the Summer Olympics, is the favorite to qualify for Team USA to defend her gold medal in the 400m hurdles. McLaughlin-Levrone also trained in the 400m flat but decided not to run it at the trials as to focus solely on the 400m hurdles. The first round of the 400mH takes place on June 27.

Other familiar names in action: Keni Harrison, the silver medalist in the 100m hurdles in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics; Abby Steiner, who will run the 100m and 200m; and recent Kentucky graduate Masai Russell, who will also compete in the 100m hurdles. Daniel Roberts, who competed in the 110m hurdles in Tokyo, will look to earn a spot on Team USA once again.
