There was never really any doubt, but former Kentucky Track star Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is headed to the finals of the 400-meter hurdles in Paris. The reigning Olympic gold medalist and current world record holder cruised in the semifinals today, winning her heat in 52.13 seconds, the fastest time in the semifinal of the event in Olympic history. Per usual, it looks like she barely broke a sweat.

Sydney is the top qualifier for Thursday’s finals (3:25 p.m. ET, NBC/Peacock). Next up was her biggest competition, Netherlands’ Femke Bol, who finished her heat in 52.57 seconds. Two more Americans qualified, Anna Cockrell and Jasmine Jones.

We’ll be watching on Thursday to see if Sydney can not only bring home another gold medal but also break her world record for the fifth time. She currently owns six of the ten fastest times in the event’s history, topped by the current WR of 50.65, set at the US Olympic Trials back in June. Go Syd Go!
