Kentucky and Florida State keep meeting on the recruiting trail in the 2023 cycle. Most of those battles have occurred in the secondary. However, this time, the Seminoles recorded an important win in the trenches.

On Thursday, defensive line prospect Tavion Gadson ended his recruitment with a commitment to Florida State.

Tavion Gadson (6-5, 265) is listed as a three-star prospect in the On3 Consensus. The Savannah (Ga.) Jenkins rising senior took official visits to both Florida State and Minnesota in June. The defensive line prospect also made unofficial trips to Georgia, Kentucky, and Tennessee over the summer.

On Aug. 1, Gadson reported five written scholarship offers coming from Auburn, Florida State, Kentucky, Minnesota, and Tennessee. Norvell’s program won out in the end landing a rising prospect that possesses very good positional length.

Kentucky currently does not have a defensive lineman committed in the class of 2023. The Wildcats appear to be all-in on four-star Kendrick Gilbert. The Indianapolis (Ind.) Cathedral prospect is down to Kentucky, Iowa, LSU, and Purdue. A decision is expected sometime before the football season begins.

Another recruiting battle with Florida State and Kentucky could be ending on Monday. Top-500 defensive back Kenton Kirkland is set to announce his decision with the Seminoles and Wildcats as the two finalists. Defensive backs coach Chris Collins currently has Kentucky in the driver’s seat.

We could be seeing some more battles between these two programs as this cycle continues.

Recruiting never stops.
