Tavion Gadson locks in official visit with Kentucky
Savannah (Ga.) Jenkins defensive lineman Tavion Gadson emerged as a prospect of note for Kentucky over the summer before committing to Florida State in August. As the early signing period approaches, the three-star prospect is now popping back up on the radar.
Multiple Kentucky coaches made a trip to Southeast Georgia to visit the defensive line prospect last week. That visit was good enough to keep the Cats more than alive in this recruitment. Tavion Gadson (6-5-265) has now scheduled an official visit with Kentucky to begin on Dec. 16.
Gadson spoke with Rivals’ Ryan Wright and confirmed he would be making the trip to Lexington for his third official visit of this recruiting cycle after taking trips to Florida State and Minnesota over the summer.
“I have a good relationship with them,” Gadson said about Kentucky. “I talk to them often, on an every other day basis. They are checking up on me, making sure everything is good, and getting ready for the official.”

Tennessee is also emerging as a contender in this recruitment and the prospect is planning to get to Knoxville in January. Gadson wants to delay his signing until February. Defensive backs coach Chris Collins is leading the way for the Wildcats and the latest visit with the coaching staff made an impact.
“It was good. I sat down with their head coach [Mark Stoops], their defensive line coach [Anwar Stewart], their defensive coordinator [Brad White], and coach Collins,” Gadson told Rivals. “We talked about my official. We talked about a lot of things. We talked for about an hour and a half. It wasn’t all straight business. There was a lot of talking back and forth between everyone. We talked ball and social. It was a good visit.”
Kentucky is not scheduled to lose anyone off of the defensive line after the 2022 season, but that can change quickly in modern-day college football. Programs now must plan ahead at every position. That is extremely important on the line of scrimmage. Kentucky is hopeful to pull off a late flip in another head-to-head battle with Mike Norvell’s Florida State program this cycle.
Recruiting never stops.
