Virginia Tech transfer Tayvion Robinson commits to Kentucky
Kentucky just picked up their second transfer portal commitment of the 2022 recruiting cycle when Virginia Tech wide receiver Tayvion Robinson pledged to the Wildcats.
Liam Coen’s offense just added a big-time playmaker.
A former top-500 recruit in the class of 2019, Robinson played three seasons for Justin Fuente at Virginia Tech and was an instant contributor as soon as he arrived on campus. The Virginia Beach (Va.) Frank W. Cox product reeled in 31 receptions and served as the primary punt returner for the Hokies as a true freshman.
That continued as the 5-foot-10 slot receiver took on bigger roles the next two seasons in the Virginia Tech offense. Over that time, Robinson collected 82 receptions and eight touchdowns despite constant quarterback turnover in Blacksburg. Offensive coordinator Brad Cornelsen would often use the skill talent on jet sweeps as Virginia Tech looked to get him the ball in multiple ways.
As a junior, Robinson operated primarily out of the slot while playing nearly 700 snaps for Virginia Tech’s offense. He ends his career as a Hokie with 113 receptions for 1,555 yards and nine touchdowns.
Tayvion Robinson will step into a Kentucky wide receiver room that will much likely have a bunch of production to replace.

Tayvion Robinson can make an instant impact
Josh Ali and Wan’Dale Robinson have combined to collect 135 receptions on 192 targets with 1,779 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. Ali has no more eligibility remaining, and Wan’Dale Robinson could enter the NFL Draft following his junior season.
The Wildcats need to replace a ton of production, and Tayvion Robinson will help fill that void.
Similar to Ali and Wan’Dale Robinson, Tayvion Robinson has a slot receiver skill set that can succeed playing on the outside. Liam Coen’s offense is very good at utilizing personnel on the perimeter, and the Virginia Tech transfer will be a nice addition for the 2022 offense at Kentucky.
Tayvion Robinson can be used on jet sweeps, screens, and is a very productive route runner. Add in his proven production in the ACC, and Kentucky just found another starter in the transfer portal.
